Specialist dry ice blasting for underbodies, engine bays, classic vehicles, 4WDs, motorcycles, components and restoration projects — without introducing water or leaving secondary blast media behind.
*Suitability depends on substrate, coating and contamination. Work is assessed project by project.

Dry ice lifts heavy baked-on road grease, oil accumulation, and surface contamination from cast aluminium without abrasive media grit, chemical wash baths, or wash water.

Dry ice lifts decades of baked-on road dirt and grime from intricate inner fenders without water or media grit, cleanly exposing original factory coatings and true metal condition.
Upload a few photos and tell us about the project. We'll assess whether dry ice blasting is suitable.

Sublimation at -78.5°C
Solid CO₂ converts instantly to gas on surface impact, lifting grease and grime cleanly away.
Dry ice blasting uses accelerated solid CO₂ particles to lift contamination from a surface.
On impact, the dry ice sublimates into gas rather than remaining behind as conventional blasting media.
That means there is no sand, glass or other blast media left to clean out of the vehicle, component or work area.
No water is introduced by the blasting medium.
The dry ice sublimates instead of leaving blasting grit behind.
Useful where preserving the underlying surface is important, subject to the condition and material being cleaned.
Useful around detailed components, seams, cavities and hard-to-reach areas.
Dry ice blasting is particularly useful for automotive cleaning and restoration where the goal is to remove accumulated contamination while preserving as much of the original vehicle and finish as practical.
Primary Application 01Remove accumulated road grime, grease, old underseal contamination and expose the true condition underneath without blasting grit or water intrusion.
Primary Application 02Detailed cleaning around complex engine-bay components, cast manifolds, wiring conduits and tight crevices without introducing wash water or harsh detergents.
Primary Application 03A valuable cleaning method when originality and preservation matter most. Reveal factory stamps, inspection marks, and paint codes buried under decades of dirt.
ADDITIONAL AUTOMOTIVE & COMPONENT SERVICES
Subframes, control arms, sway bars, springs, and chassis members.
Baked-on mud, rubber, and road grime from intricate arches.
Transmissions, transfer cases, diff housings, and removable parts.
Detailed cleaning of motorcycle engines, frames, and tight cooling fins.
Substantial underbody contamination, red dirt, and beach buildup.
Suitable outdrives, brackets, manifolds, and aluminium marine hardware.
Bring individual parts or dismantled assemblies to our Clontarf workshop.
They're different processes designed for different jobs. Neither process is universally better; choosing the right one depends entirely on your objective.
Dry ice blasting can clean away contamination and expose corrosion that was hidden underneath, but it is not a universal replacement for abrasive blasting when heavy, bonded or deeply pitted rust needs to be removed.
Not sure what your project needs? Send PureBlast photos and we'll assess it.

Restoration isn't always about stripping everything back.
Sometimes the first job is removing years of grease, grime and contamination so you can see what is actually underneath.
Dry ice blasting can be particularly valuable when cleaning classic vehicles, mechanical components and suitable restoration projects where preservation matters.
PureBlast Automotive is launching with a strong automotive focus, but dry ice blasting has applications across many commercial and industrial cleaning challenges. Suitable removable items, machinery and components can be brought to our Clontarf workshop for assessment.
Suitable machinery, mechanical parts, grease, oils, carbon buildup and production contamination.
Suitable moulds, dies, tooling and production components requiring non-destructive contaminant removal.
Suitable motors, components, assemblies and equipment where a dry cleaning process may be beneficial.
Production equipment, fixtures, printing, packaging and suitable food production equipment.
Specialist restoration projects, selected building components and removable items assessed individually.
Selected furniture and timber restoration projects assessed individually to strip varnish and reveal raw natural grain.
Before (Varnished)
After (Blasted Raw)Dry ice lifted aged varnish, sealers, and coatings cleanly out of intricate crevices and grain patterns without chemical baths or rough sanding belts.
